I'm thinking this is perfect for a sunny day outdoor sporting event. I picture you cheering your team on with vigorous watch-hand fist pumps that dazzle anyone sitting within 10 yards.

I would note that color is not a violation of Bauhaus design so long as it serves a function such as adding legibility, and preferably does not hide the underlying material. Same goes for dials.

Similarly, a mix of Arabic and Roman numerals is fine since artful typography is essentially Bauhaus. But again, only if it doesn't affect legibility.

A quick test for Bauhaus: Do all design elements serve a function with no needless ornamentation? If yes, it might be Bauhaus.

I think Longines is indeed a mid-tier luxury Bang-for-the-buck brand. But I'd instead go for the 39mm HydroConquest over the Legend Diver.

The HC may lack the heritage but it is uncluttered, popularly sized, and gorgeous.

commented on [Movement Question] - Why do we need to apply a gentle shake on the watches with manual-wind movement to start ticking? ·

I wonder if, theoretically, a watch carefully wound from unwound to fully wound would not self-start since no power is released by the escapement until the mainspring starts oscillating.

*hairspring, not mainspring

My 1979 Seiko, model 7546-8519.  Numerals at every hour is fairly rare.

c1980 I had admired this at Macy's department store in Northern California and the woman in my life surprised me with it as a gift.

She is long gone but the Seiko remains, running perfectly after a recent service.

(The quarter and dime show the scale of the now small-ish 34mm case diameter).
