I do agree that the DJ is the quintessential Rolex. This is undeniable.

The palm dials are really nice in a completely different way. Good luck with your OP waiting list.

In normal circumstances that would be the thing to do but there was no OP only DJ for sale.

Thanks I think you really summed it up perfectly - they are BOTH great watches.

Pictures for sure if I get it (if it hasn't been sold already)

I'm ashamed to say I did not know ANYTHING about that dial until after discussing with a friend and doing a bit more research and now I LOVE IT! It's laser etched hexagonal shapes which are then finished in a sunburst finish on half and a matte finish on the other half. And the cost is no extra vs the plain dials. Very distinctive. Now I need to go back and hope and pray nobody bought it already. And yes, jubilee suits my small wrist and I generally prefer smooth bezel to fluted, although take a look at the fluted dial with fluted bezel - it actually does highlight the dial shapes more.

Are you thinking of the Explorer? The OP comes in 41mm and 36mm. I have a tiny wrist so for me 36mm is perfect, however, if you need a bigger model it comes in 41mm. The double batons at 3, 6, 9 and 12 aren't for everyone but Grand Seiko did the same with their SBGW231 and I love that watch.

The AD had the DJ to sell but didn't have any OPs so perhaps my decision has been made for me!
