I'm a retired 76 yr old engineer living in Seattle. I like to hike, write, play chess and watch movies. I have a collection of 7 watches and love to talk about, look at, and think about watches. Yes, I'm a watch nerd!

Bought an MVMT fashion chronograph as an expression of personal style, eventually realized it was crap and got into better quality starting with a Timex Weekender.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
I think it was a Bulova my grandfather gave me when I graduated from HS.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
My first grail, B&M Capeland Chronograph. I saw a Tim Mosso's (Watchbox) video review when I first got seriously into watches and fell hopelessly in love, until I saw the price (like falling in love with the Princess of Monaco before you knew she was the Princess). I bought a similar Dan Henry instead. Later, I found out that B&M RRPs are wildly high just as my financial situation took a turn for the better and purchased the B&M gray market and sold the DH.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Nomos, Hamilton, Oris
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Nomos Metro Silvercut because it's the highest quality within my spending limits (actually extending it considerably).
