Seaholm Rover
The Rover is the "field watch" model from American brand Seaholm, although it is a "Swiss Made" timepiece.
It is a watch developed by and for lovers of any adventure that one might imagine.
We saw recently (when reviewing the OffShore) that Seaholm makes very well specified watches that cover most of the needs of the “tool” watch enthusiast.
The Rover is built to perform in any and all conditions, whether it's navigating from meeting to meeting, playing outside with the kids or jumping out of a plane. The Rover, more than the OffShore, does everything and has a lot to offer under its attractive hood.
Like the OffShore, the Rover has a 41 mm diameter case, that is 50.5 mm lug-to-lug, 14.5 mm thick and has 21 mm between the lugs. It is powered by a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement (28,800 bph and 38 hour power reserve). It features a domed sapphire with generous layers of anti-reflective coating. It's waterproof to 200 meters (ISO 6425 certified), highly resistant to magnetism (thanks to its ARMCO iron cage), and features custom-made shock absorbers to provide impact protection. It is designed to drop from a height of three meters and not miss a beat.
Ugh… maybe that was too many specifications in a single paragraph… But, in short, we see an ultra-resistant watch to face life itself.
This, unfortunately, increases its cost. Other drawbacks would be its dimensions, which lean towards the larger and heavier side of the scale, and the “3-6-9” dial layout which is obviously neither original nor new. That said, it is a format that is repeated because it is effective and timeless.
$1,895 (€1,780, plus VAT and duties, but including shipping) is a hefty figure to spend on a watch, but rest assured it would be well spent on the Seaholm Rover. It may not be your first “tool” watch, but it could very well be your second and last.

Wow, I'll have to look into this brand. I like the aesthetics of this one.
Just an update, in case it was missed; I did get one of these Rover's and love it. I have a 7 inch wrist and it curves to hug it so the slightly added weight and dimensions are not a problem. Wore it hiking and barely felt it over a whole weekend. I feel so luck to have found this one.
I just ordered one in blue and got a great deal on a demo model from the manufacturer. Can’t wait to get it on my wrist!
