Knowing that there are other Crunchers who are dealing with loss right now, I wanted to share a sentiment I’ve previously shared on another platform:
If watches are windows to the soul, perhaps they can collect the essence of the precious moments in our lives. Not just as timepieces, but as time keepers.
I wore this Saxonia to my archery coach’s celebration of life. From age 10–21, this man gifted me with his time and his wisdom to allow me to grow into the elite athlete I was at the time. As I listened to the stories friends and family shared about his life, I looked down at my Lange as if I could implore it to keep all these stories safe for me to revisit later.
I also found it curious that—out of all the watches in my collection—I chose my German timepiece to wear to this occasion. Later that day, I learned that this mountain of a man—who helped shape me as a human being—was the son of German immigrants. Maybe, by some cosmic thread, there was no other watch I could have worn to entrust those memories to safe keeping.

Most definitely. In a way they can represent many things to an individual or a collective. A well made watch is made to stand the test of time and because of that, they can be keepers of time

I try to capture what I can with my phone. There are so many fabulous details. One aspect I haven’t figured out how to catch is how the indices sparkle with movement.
