Backstory

This watch was gifted to me by my dad, who got it as a gift himself somewhen between 1985 and 1990. I searched the whole internet for it, but I never found this particular model. What I found were similar ones with the same movement but not the watch with its panda dial configuration. I don’t know for sure, but it could be a highly limited edition or even a one-of-a-kind piece. Either way, I like it.

Core Memories

After having the F91W this was kinda my first classic watch, so again as with the F91W, it is mostly childhood memories, I remember school with it on my wrist and a few cool vocations.

It also was the watch which got me interested in watches at all and started the collecting disease.

Purpose

Well to be honest it doesn´t have one. Should it have one, well I´m not sure.

It´s a cool peace but the glass is massively scratched, so I will probably get it replaced with a sapphire one and get it serviced in total. It doesn’t get a lot of wrist time because I have a few watches I prefer to wear in my collection. Not that it would be uncomfortable, but again and I know many people will sue me for this, I prefer a bit larger watches, perfectly about 40 mm, although it is wearable with a 36mm diameter.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is the scratched glass. I´m totally fine with scratched cases or bracelets, that’s unpreventable especially if you wear your watch on your dominant wrist like me, because everything else feels wrong, but a massively scratched crystal disturbs me a lot.

Maybe it will get more wrist time when it gets finally serviced.

Conclusion

A lot of functions, classic design, no lume and the polishing of the hands and indices play beautifully with the light. It has a special place in my heart & I love it.

Of course, some points bother me as well, like the unknown water resistance, the scratched mineral crystal, the non-stainless steel case and the diameter, but this watch is still incredibly well made and provides a lot of function in an analog only way that normally only works on digital watches or would cost a fortune if it would be made mechanically.

Recommendation

Yes, I can recommend this watch, if you are not bothered by the points that I don’t like so much.

But I don´t have a clue if there are any to buy and where you can get one.

And before you even think of it: No mine is not for sale 😉

Please don’t hesitate to tell  me if you have more information about this watch, then I do.
