For me it's:

  • Modern & expensive (expensive is really relative) 

Or

  • Vintage & no matter what value

Therefore a modern Rolex gives me the same vibes as a 100 year old vintage watch for 50$. I think it all comes down to "has this watch character"? 😉

I would look for a pre owned Breitling Colt. 

Ref A17035 should be available pre owned for 800$

Ref A17350 should be available pre owned for 1200$

Depends on where you live of course.

That's simple in my opinion. If you make an homage of a submariner but put your own name on it it's an homage. If you write rolex on it it's fake.
