The Autumn that changed everything.

I'm a "tech guy", always looking for a state-of-the-art smartphone to be in my pocket, paired with a smartwatch. I never liked the Apple watch though. I used to switch between different models, always with rounded screens. My last smartwatch was a Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3, which lasted one and a half years.

Tired of the planned obsolescence that "high-tech" brings, I opted to end the cycle and look for something that could last several years on my wrist. After a couple of weeks and several stores visited, I found this "strange" Swiss brand I never heard of before: Certina. This special model, the DS-8 Precidrive Moon Phase Chronograph conquered my heart with its beautiful color and a kinda chocolate-colored sparkles.

I thought this was going to be my "one and only" watch, but as soon as I started to learn and understand the uniqueness, complexity, and majesty of the industry, my thoughts immediately changed. Now, I'm planning to get new pieces and start my personal collection.

Thanks to Certina, this quickly became one of my new hobbies. But the most beautiful part is that I'm not alone! there is a whole community that shares this passion. It inspired me to write this post and share my journey, step by step.

And you? Would you share in the comments how did you start your journey?

Excellent choice! If you have any question with regards to the DS action Diver, hit me up! I have the 38MM version with the black dial

I planned on getting an Apple Watch last year, then decided to look up info on my grandpa’s 1972 Bulova on YouTube and saw the Time Teller channel. After watching a few videos, I thought about something reliable and longer lasting as well as beautifully made. Next came a few new watches. Love the hobby.

I love #certina watches, and yours is a truly special and quirky one. Actually, I have it in my "saved" list on Chrono24.

Welcome to the rabbit hole!

My curiosity started when I received a gift from my father in law. A #seiko Astron, solar gps loaded with features. It is a super nice watch and honestly I wouldn't need anything else, but aesthetically is not my first preference. I started to search about it (and I'm not going to lie, how much is its value), and went from video to video in YouTube. Now I have a few more watches in different styles and searching for more.. it's addictive!
