Dressing down a dress watch - more difficult with coloured dials?

Recently I asked you to vote on my next watch - between Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle with green dial and GMT Master II two-tone with Black/Chocolate bezel.

Thank you everyone for voting. Traditionnelle was a clear winner, getting over 62% of your votes.

Yesterday, after work, I finally found an AD who had Traditionelle on display. They kindly let me try it on.

It was absolutely beautiful, one of the most stunning watches I've ever seen😍

Did I put my name on the waiting list?

No. It was too stunning. The watch was wearing me, instead of me wearing the watch. Also I felt it would be very difficult to dress down.

I thought it was because of green. So I went to JLC boutique nearby and tried Master Ultra Thin Moon in blue. This is also a stunning looking watch. Far more stunning in metal than looking at the pictures. Again, I didn't feel I can dress it down.

However, trying those two watches made me realize how attractive those thin dress watches are.

So I went to ALS boutique and tried Saxonia Thin with silver dial (with a little hint of champaigne). It was surprising that it fit my smart casual attire (buttoned-down shirt and indigo jeans) pretty well. Looking at the pictures, this looks most formal but it is actually easier to dress down.

I was looking to add some colour and fun to my mostly monochromatic, boring-looking collection. But I realized I am happy with being understated and boring. Dressing down a rose-gold dress watch is adventurous enough for me 😊

So my search for thin rose-gold dress watches start now😎
