Got my first eco-drive as a birthday gift - couple questions….

I was worried when I saw a watch box as a gift but I actually wanted a solar based movement and a chronograph to diversify my collection so I’m pretty happy (and surprised that it all worked out as a picky collector lol).

I noticed that the seconds hand and the small seconds hand are both moving - is this normal?

In the small dial on the right basically just a 24 hour indicator?

Do I have to worry about what time I’m setting the date like a normal automatic?

Thank you in advance!

Any other tips and tricks for eco drive would be appreciated!

Congratulations on your awesome watch! Either the second hand or the sector hand must run but not both at the same time. try pushing the top right pusher and see which one stops. The press the bottom right pusher and see which one resets. That should show you which one is which. I am going to take a guess and say that that its going to be the second hand. These watches need regular light so try exposing one in an area that gets some sunshine but not direct sunlight as you don't want the watch to overheat in the direct sunlight. The watch also seems to have a unique complication that is rather rare... A pulsometer. Its used to measure the heartrate.

First of all congratulations 🎊! Ecodrive is a wonderful movement. Some of them have multiple modes, so this is one instance it will benefit you to read and keep the instruction manual. I don't own your model so I can't say if you have multiple modes or that the chronometer is simply running. Looking at the bottom dial, it just might be. The right dial seems to be indeed a 24 hour indicator, useful if you're ever underground and wondering if it's morning or evening or if you are just really forgetful. To clarify mine is a perpetual calendar and in calendar mode the second hand becomes a pointer date (month), in time mode it's a regular second hand.

It seems that it is the small seconds that is the primary one that should be running, I’m guessing the normal seconds hand is the special function due to the pulsometer… I think… Will read up more but your insight is very helpful so far!

Thank you so much for the feedback. It is wonderful so far. Magical almost! No winding.

The box didn’t come with a manual, just a warranty card but I’ll try to look it up online. Thank you for the note on the 24 hour dial! Love this helpful community

That would make sense as the markings are on the bezel so the "second hand" should point to them easily! Its a lovely watch so you will definitely enjoy it!

Glad to help 👍. But let me give you some extra information as you don't have a manual. Do try to find one for your model.

What makes an Ecodrive so awesome is that it charges with all types of light, artificial or natural. Depending where you live, sunlight might not be enough but putting it near a lamp works too. Avoid direct sunlight and overheating. If it's running low on a charge it normally shows this by skipping a couple of seconds per tick. *Not sure how your model does this*. The capacitator that holds the charge will eventually need to be replaced, you will notice this by it not really keeping a charge as it used to. In my case that was well after ten years, at least 15.

On both my citizens the seconds hands skips when it needs a charge, one is a chronograph and the small/running seconds hand skips.
