For the past month and a half I have been looking at watches pretty intensely. I have been searching for "the watch." However that proves rather difficult.
Yes- There I watches I like and dislike but there are no watches that I have gotten really caught up in and really like.
I am looking for a watch that will last me quite some time and that will be suitable for everyday use. I do not do many tasks that the watch may get damaged but I want something durable - along with that good water resistance. It will have to be 38mm or less (possiblely 40mm if I like the watch so much). It will have to have a date because that is why I look at my watch a lot other than for the time. I'm not too bothered what type of watch it is (dress, dive etc) as long as it isn't a chronograph. The movement has to be mechanical I would not mind hand wound or automatic. And my price limitations are probably around £700 maximum but I would be willing to spend more if this watch was something I wanted.
I will keep looking for something like this but I was wondering what people would say about this and whether I will actually find "the watch."

What about a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic, a well proportioned, versatile 38mm field watch?
Timex Expedition line has long been a solid GADA choice, and even in modern mechanical I'd say they fit the bill.

Or the Murph
Seiko5 SRPE or Alpinist…Zelos, Baltic, or some Christopher Ward if you’re into smaller brands
