You can get a vintage mechanical Hamilton for half the cost that will run just fine. For less than that you can get an vintage Elgin or a Bulova. For practically nothing you can get a vintage Benrus tank.
eBay has tons of a very reasonable vintage Hamilton’s. You can get some really cool looking art deco pieces for $4-500.
Check out rotary if you want something you can use without worry. If you just want to wear it occasionally, look for vintage from the likes Hamilton, Bulova, Elgin, Benrus.
