No Time Like the Present

This is an old article from about four years ago that I came across. This was a stunt to boost tourism. However, it is a hilarious concept.

I know there are places where they do not observe daylight savings time even if everywhere else around them does, due to the amount of daylight they get.

I'd have like to have seen them have a special watch where all three hands just go around the clock like the second hand.

Anyway, I thought the horology fans would appreciate this article. I included the link to the Guardian article.

This is an interesting concept. But, I do not think they can get away with it. The store will not be open all the time because the owner of the store will not be there each and every moment. So, it is nice to know when you can go and buy that coffee to have with friends at 2 am. And, my kid can watch her cartoons whenever she wants, but is it healthy for her? I do not think so. So, you cannot get away from "tyranny of time".

Also, you do not need to be in Sommarøy to enjoy coffee at 2 am with your friends. I've done it many times, here on this forum. I was having coffee at 2 am and chatting with my my far away friends about completely irrelevant things, like this one.

Finally, you can still consider yourself time-free and be a watch collector.

True it would be pure chaos. Only thing that would make the shops work in such a situation would be all stores being 24/7.

Fortunately, this was only a joke to get tourists to visit. I've seen many a small town or island make some absurd claim to get tourists interested. It's one of the more unique gags I've seen from such tourism industries.
