The Casio CMD10 - I used to own / pwn you

I used to own this watch back in the day when I was young and ridiculous, and had all sorts of fun in Dixon's and Currys (UK TV shops from back in the day) turning off the display models or changing channels around people's houses on the sly, with the grown-ups scratching their heads!

Doesn't seem to be a well-reviewed watch over on YT... don't know if they would still work on modern TV's either.

I see that Casio updated this over the years, but its secondary use case doesn't seem to have made it into vintage, probably due to it being a fad, but I do recall these watches being a thing, around the same time as 3rd party 'all in one' remotes being a thing... perhaps there was some kind of licencing change / subsequent issue?

My brain just remembered this watch now, so thought I would share it here!

Does anyone own one of these or its updated variants? Do they still work as TV Remotes?

Might be one to put on my list if they do, but if not then it's a bit of extra clunk with only a nostalgic reference... (and limited use case) so that might change my mind, also I'd only go for this one since it was the one that young me had for a short period of time.

You can still get watches that do it, cheaper Chinese brands on Amazon still make watches with the same functions, just not the same design.

I had/have one of the other variants from the nineties. Here’s a themed shot I took of mine just today for the photography challenge here on WatchCrunch.

Never tried myself but was told that some get them to work after a little fiddle. Best to assume it won't work straight out of the box and be over the moon if it does? Ones with learning function should handle near anything though. By the way - it is a nice watch, one of my favourites.
