Hi, folks.
I'm hoping someone can provide some guidance for me. I recently discovered a watch that belonged to my late uncle. From what I've been able to research, it's a 1968 Acutron 214, pictured here. It doesn't run, and I've tried replacing the battery in it but it was a no-go.
I found one repair shop in the U.S. that would repair it but at a cost of $1,000. Based on the estimate, the service is comprehensive but ... yikes.
Does this sound like a reasonable fee for this type of watch? Can anyone offer other options or advice?
Thank you!

Being that this is an elecrical device and not mechanical, there is probably no point in just "getting it running" and biting the bullet for a complete overhaul is probably less time and money in the long run.
However, I googled Accutron watch repair and there are surely more than one place around. I have no experience with Accutrons, but that estimate does seem a bit high.
Actually, the search term you probably want is Accutron specialist, as it is a special watch. Free estimates at https://www.accutrons.com/contact#OnlineStore among others.
