First time going to London. Where to stay?

Hello WatchCrunchers...in June, my wife and I will be visiting London for the first time. We want to be near Harrod's (to do some watch shopping of course!). Any suggestions on where to stay? Looking to spend around $300 per night USD. Not interesting in fancy swimming pools or health clubs, prefer a quiet cozy setting.

Thanks!

I absolutely love The Sanctuary House. It's not fancy at all, but clean, good free breakfast, and an excellent location. Not too far from Harrods if you use taxi or tube. BTW a great place for watch shopping is Bond Street

Not London 🤷🤣

Dont use London cabs! They are obnoxious and overpriced... Maybe uber or bolt are better but those traditional London cabs are a worse experience than gondolas in Venezia.

Royal Garden hotel is very nice. It also has parking if you're driving?

Hotel 41 was awesome and you can walk there. https://41hotel.com/ My favorite place I have stayed.

I'll second hitting Bond Street. I was there last May and had a blast visiting all the boutiques and a few second-hand shops.

The Tube is definitely the most effective way to travel around London; particularly to all the tourist spots you’re likely to visit.

Just search for boutique hotels near a tube station. There are plenty within your price budget on booking.com

Seconded.

Also try Hatton Garden on a weekday for watches (Farringdon Station)

Good luck 🍀🤞🏻

I avoid London

I stayed at the Hotel Melia White House near The Regent's Park when I was in London. Very nice 4-star hotel, and only 1 mile away from Herrod's.

The area seemed upscale, given the Bentleys, McLarens & Jaguars around every corner and driving by.

I appreciate all the great input from everyone. Keep it coming.

No idea on price but have a look at Beaufort Gardens Hotel, convenient for Harrodsburg but also a little secluded.

I wouldn’t suggest staying around Harrods - you will pay top tourist prices and it will be quite busy.

I haven’t got a hotel recommendation, but If you like quiet settings in Central London (which are few and far between) I recommend you visit the Inns of Court - in particular Inner Temple and Middle Temple - on a week day. This is the heart of legal London, and a pleasant place to walk through. Many people don’t realise that these are open for the public to walk through and enjoy the gardens. You can also visit Temple Church, parts of which date back to the 12th century (used in the Da Vinci Code film), and I recommend stopping by at Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub on the way. You could combine it with a trip to walk around Hatton Garden (as suggested above) to see the second hand Rolexes and the diamonds.

I posted a few photos of the area on here a while back: https://www.watchcrunch.com/DeeperBlue/posts/watch-crunch-photography-club-weekly-competition-30393#comment-394197
