G-Shock Ref. 5600 - A Journey Through Watch Memories

I recently pulled the trigger on a new acquisition from Hodinkee—a G-Shock Ref. 5600 By Online Ceramics. This purchase took me back to my earliest days of horological fascination, back in elementary school, when my first descent watch was a G-Shock. It was a gift from my mother, commemorating my graduation from whichever grade it was back in 1999. That watch, a Frogman model, held a special place in my heart, symbolizing not just timekeeping but also milestones and memories.

While this new G-Shock isn't the exact same model, it exudes a reminiscent vibe of the late '90s and early 2000s—an era filled with anticipation for the new millennium. The vibrant colors of this collaboration with Online Ceramics for Hodinkee's edition are particularly striking, evoking a sense of nostalgia for a bygone era while embracing contemporary design elements.

As I anticipate my trip to Korea this spring, I can't help but feel excited to bring this watch along. It's more than just a timepiece; it's a tangible link to my past, a reminder of where I've been and the journeys that lie ahead. With every glance at my wrist, I'll be transported back to those formative years, filled with innocence and wonder.
