I think a brand that solely produces copies of other watches loses the right to even use the word homage. They clearly have the capability of producing good watches, yet they apparently seem too lazy to create an original design of their own.
For the Bulova you should make sure it's not huge on you, that's the most common complaint. I want the Lunar Pilot, I want the smaller, dateless, one, but I also am not a fan of the case and bracelet finishing in the smaller version and prefer the non-polished larger one, but not its sizeโฆ ๐
But hey don't be mean to Swatch - it played a significant part in helping the watch industry post-quartz-crisis ๐
I don't believe anyone thinks they are "superior", it's just a style that also focuses on the bracelet being a coherent whole with the case where for other watch designs it is often an afterthought relegated to standardised third party options.
It is great ๐ I received mine this morning in Milan from the UK - I'm guessing you may fall under their Hong Kong logistics which are affected by Chinese New Year festivities. I did get all notices through Kickstarter mail, including the UPS tracking number.
I love the white-bordered white-filled hands and indices on the Pelagos and I have a soft spot for the FXD Marine Nationale, titanium, clean dial with no dateโฆ love it.
It's even sillier, if you hater are so emotionally or "ethically" invested in mechanical watches, when you think that these high PR value events bring people, who would otherwise only be interested in smartwatches if anything at all, into the mechanical watch discussion and sphere of interestโฆ
Heh I guess it's almost a variation of the Streisand Effect - a strange thing like an incomplete description attracts way more attention than a precise statement or the complete absence of the information ๐ I'd have never thought about determining the location in either of those options.
Back on topic, both Nivada and Vulcain have been on my radar and shortlist for some time, maybe given the similarities in "taste" you may also like to look at microbrands (there are several dedicated FB groups and Subreddits). I've recently participated in a couple of crowdfunding campaigns, for example, the Horizon Pilgrim.
