The mythical unicorn: Sub 38mm Mechanical Chronograph

Exactly, Tudor’s Blackbay 54 is on my radar. That’s an awesome timepiece.

Yes, what you’re saying is quite true. I guess that’s part of the tolerances and mechanics I was referring to in the post. It’s how to make the existing calibers work for smaller dimensions. Would be easier if the Japanese powerhouses get involved and develop calibers along those lines. I think they have the financial muscle to deliver something like that under their NH and Miyota lines. Any microbrand attempting that feat will need some ingenuity to get around the mechanics or some big financial backing to roll out their own mechanical chronograph movement that would fit in a smaller watch and still keep it slim.

Nice choice. Although, it comes in at 38mm not 36.5mm. Still a solid choice. Thanks @flythk

Well…I guess having a lot of registers on a chronograph will certainly make the dial too busy. In fact, my preference has always been a bi-register chronograph. I think just two registers allows the dial to breath and provides symmetry. My preference would all be no-date but a well framed date window at 6 is passable.
