I’ve always been interested in watches, but could never justify spending the amount of money I’d need to, to get the watches I want. Until now - starting slowly and really picking my pieces.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Definitely a cheap Casio, I’ve worn watches since I was 7, and have never gone without a watch for any extended period of time. I started with cheaper parent bought Casios, eventually going into couple hundred dollar G-Shocks and then the Mud Master, moving on into Seiko for mechanical and it’s been mechanical ever since!
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Take your time, don’t rush into a watch you deem “is the one”. You’ll be surprised how many watches you never considered suddenly speak to you when you visit a shop. Always try them on or at least handle them in person. I find what I perceive to be “perfect” online, can end up being a very different impression when handled IRL.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Yet to find one, but I’m not a fan of the status watches out there, even though I have utmost respect for the craftsmanship and research that goes into them.
