I just lost my leather wallet/cardholder a few hours ago. It was the first prototype of my own design. I'm more saddened by loosing it than by all the cards and other stuff that was in it. I can replace those but I can't replace it. This was one of the things I always used to carry with me.

The other stuff is a pair of sunglasses I can't go out without and my keys on a diy handmade leather key organizer and a phone.

Q$Q Smile Solar is a subbrand of citizen. They are similar to swatch watches (lots of colors) but are solar and have 100m or 200m WR and all have monoblock cases.

They are affordable and made out of resin. There are a few field like models and a diver style 200m model in a few colors

I second a nato/zulu/elastic/perlon strap. They are perfect for summer/heat. You can get them wet, they are breatheble so no sweat issues and you can easily wash them with your clothes.

The gshock ga2000, ga2200 have regular lugs (no integrated strap) and they also have a resin back.

Many resin/plastic watches have stainless steel case backs.

If you want something light there are some titanium watches like the lorus field titanium watch or the alba titanium field watch that are light and budget friendly.

Some resin watches: bertuci, citizen Q&Q Smile solar (monoblock case with resin back), alba APBS139, deep blue day-night PC. Some of these might have a metal caseback.

There are also plenty of digital Casios to choose from.

i must say that making your own watch could be something very special indeed.. i wonder if i could actually pull of something like this with my shaky hands and not that great eyesight.. it's always satisfying to make something yourself even if it doesn't end up being the most perfect thing ever.. i hope one of those 68% gets to actually do it!

i mistakenly thought Farer was an Italian micro-brand. the name sounds italian (if you pronouce it in a more latin way) and the design language felt the same to me.. all of their watches are very good looking and distinctive and they somehow mix classic / conservative with modern / colorful and playful. not many brands can do that.

I love the Promaster Tough line.. Too bad it's discontinued.. I wonder if they'll come up with another model soon like the new Promaster land that's available in Japan.. I have the bn0151 which is very tool-ish and indeed the eco-drives are a brilliant tool watch movement, no need for mentenance and very resilient..

this particular model of the series is cool indeed but the regular models are a bit to generic to me.. the snk805 has something special with the small size and sandblasted case and the unusual pilot dial in a field watch and it looks very military on a nato/zulu strap.. the 5kx (srpe) models feel much more like a seiko while these new pilot models feel just like any another modern watch.. the field dial models (that use the same cases) are a better choice in my opinion..
