Valley Fair trip report 2/12/24

I was bored after lunch yesterday so I went and walked around Valley Fair. I didn't take too many pics, but the ones I did take I've attached. There are a couple of videos that watchcrunch won't take from me, but I'll see if I can edit those in later.

Anyway, I started at TAG Heuer, checked out a glass box tourbillion and a couple of aquaracers. I do like the solargraph and its bonkers bezel lume.

Next IWC & Jaeger-LeCoultre, I skipped the Panerai third of the boutique. Looked at a Timezoner and a couple of Reversos. An Atmos clock is calling to me, too. My folks have always had an old Junghans mantel clock and I feel like an Atmos would fit my style for something in that vein.

I popped in at Swatch, they had all the Blancpain crossovers in stock and all of the Moonswatches except for Neptune.

Rolex - put my name down for a two-tone Sea-Dweller, we'll see if that ever comes to anything, but at least I did try a sub and a sea-dweller on for size comparison.

Vacheron Constantin - pretty new boutique, I'd only been in once before. Lots of Traditionelle models on display. They did happen to have a rose gold Overseas so I tried that on, too. Put my name down for my grails. Again, we'll see if anything ever comes of that.

Then I went to CH Premier's temporary location - it's packed full of stuff. Tried on a Zenith Chronomaster sport, small on me, but I bet I can get used to it, and a couple of Defy 21s. That 1/100 of a second chronograph hand is nuts. Similarly in the maybe-small-but-I-could-leadn-to-deal category a Grand Seiko SBGA429G. CH doing lots of deals for lunar new year and because they appear to want to keep stock moving through this tiny temporary location.

Yeah pretty fun. I’m happy the shop is finally open even if I’m not really likely to be a customer. Same goes for VC, of course. ;-)

It never hurts to look at a nice Vacheron, cough cough, just in case, you know? I’d absolutely kill for a 222.

222 isn’t my jam, but maybe if you put your name on a list you’ll win the lottery before your allocation shows up…

One popped up here, locally on Facebook marketplace. How many kidneys do I need?

Silicon Valley, nice, lots of oppty to easily find a watch. Good market due to high income local demographic.

Yeah, it’s weird. A lot of that is nouveau riche tech bros with bad taste. I think the old money hiding around though…

Oh I also went to Breitling - my short list for those is only discontinued models, though (last gen superocean, cosmonaute), so nothing really interesting in stock for me.
