Recently retired IT Manager. Love watches, woodworking/turning, running, hiking, travel, my wife. Former Jarhead and UMASS alum. Enjoying Durham area after decades in the northeast.
Once I had my first automatic, which had a see through back case, I was completely hooked on the inner workings of mechanical watches.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
My father gave me an Accutron Astronaut when I was in high school.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I have two watches that are special to me. My Grandfather's Hamilton pocket watch from the 1920s, and an Accutron 214 that my grandfather received upon his retirement.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Only buy watches that you love and skip settling for a lesser watch then you truly want.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Seiko always! Microbrands of all types but mostly divers. I have wanted a JLC Reverso for a while now and feel the time may be right very soon.
