Grand Seiko 9F movement

It's time for a battery change of my Grand Seiko gishi sbgx343, the watch is 5 years old and just started indicating low battery life,

I Just thought I would share some images as it's a stunning movement,

The 9F movements are hand assembled along side the spring drive movements. Fully serviceable and have a 50 year service interval,

Grand seiko even grow their own synthetic quartz crystals and age them before only selecting the most stable.

I love high accuracy quartz movements. The 9F is amazing, but a few other great quartz movements are also catching my eye like the precidrive models. A 50 year service interval takes some beating though.

I love that it can go that long with out servicing, if I serviced my mechanicals when the manufacturers recommend I will have spent thousands in comparison

I think that is why I tend to buy more quartz lately, with the odd mechanical thrown in.

It’s beautiful. I’m tired of buying luxury divers, so I plan on adding a Grand Seiko dress peice to the collection. The Grand Seiko standard quartz are a great value.

I love that case design and movement. The sheer lug, angles around the case and flat bezel top….looks like something Bruce Wayne would rock. Sup with that knife? Can you send me deets on that?

Absolutely love everything about these. Have a slot reserved

for one after I get the Mistflake.

Mind sharing your 5 year / extended review?

Yes, that was originally how I got interested in GS quartz.

I think it’s extremely hard to beat the case shape.

I would love a metal bracelet option (a next-gen one) and some textured dial options or interesting new colors - the current set are either too showy (the bolder color accents) or don’t lean into GS design strengths (beige-grey dial is cool but I hope for something more).

Great looking movement. Some of these have see through case backs but I wish more of them would
