Everyone knows, but my last few days with my GShock 5600
I was standing at my watch box before going on vacation..hmmm, tons of sun and water, I should wear a diver. Nope GShock DW-5600.
It was a wise choice
We packed and hooked up the boat trailer smiles all around. That changed quickly. The boat cover wouldn't stay strapped down and routinely turned into a parachute. Then it started to shred. Oh well, pull it off and store it inside the Expedition. 20 minutes down the road, the trailer fenders broke loose and were banging around. Stop again, wrench them down laying on 150 degree concrete. Ok..not a great start but let's hit it. 15 minutes later, explosion! Tire shredded and no spare.
Ok. This vacation is going to be fun.
Needless to say our 7 hour drive turned into a 12 hour marathon. But we arrived at my parents house with dinner and cold beer waiting. The whole time thinking, "ok rough start, but tomorrow will be better"
Uneventful drive from Tulsa to Osage Beach and boat goes in and docked up. Hooray!
This morning, boat won't start. I tear out to battery, run and get it tested. Battery 100% Huh? Ok. Reinstall and clean all connections. No luck. Start ripping out battery switches, deep cycle battery to simplify. Nope. Try jumping the solenoid. Nope....I give up. Call a mechanic.
Mechanic comes and replaced the starter and the boat springs to life and my vacation finally begins.
After 2 rough days on the business end of my tool box, my knuckles are skinned and sore. My back is tight from carrying marine batteries, and have done my fair share of cursing.
You know one thing I didn't worry about? One thing that took a beating and didn't complain? Yep, my lowly DW-5600. No solar charging. No multiband 6. No special colors. Basic, reliable, and tough as nails.
I think I made the right choice taking this tank. It won't win a beauty contests, but why I choose to trust GShock when things might get messy.

Love the old school, but when it comes to watches I roll quartz most of the time. Looking at a digital watch reminds me of being a kid with my first Casio...the height of 80's cool with a calculator w...
