One watch to rule them all?

Here’s my two pieces right now. I’ve noticed I’ve been wearing the Cartier less and less. That made me reconsider what I want from my watches, and I’ve been thinking more and more about consolidating these two pieces and getting one watch instead.

Thinking about an older Explorer II Polar 16570. It’s probably as big though as my wrist can manage (16cm) but that’s the one I’d go for if you ask me now. I just don’t think I’m someone that has a big collection, I prefer to have one cool watch. What do you guys think?

I love both of these, but I have a soft spot for Cartier. Absolute class. I do like the Explorer option as a go-anywhere/do-anything watch. Personally , I'd keep the Omega. As much as a Cartier simp as I am, they are more widely available. Still, can't go wrong with an Explorer and selling these two could certainly fund that.

I love this collection!!!! I am a fan of simple smaller collections myself. Love the idea of a one watch collection but don’t think I could do it. 4 is the perfect range. That being said…Explorer II….😍just picked up a 226570 polar and I’m in love. I do like the 40mm case of the 16570 though. Tough choice. Best of luck.

Nice watches. Be careful, the older bracelets cannot be sized down to smaller sizes. It has 5 fixed links and the folding piece sits grossly off center and pulls the watch to the side.

I have a similar size wrist as you do and my 15210 OP Date with 5 fixed links (and a 6mm smaller case so it needs a longer bracelet) never seems to sit right. There is a whole corner of the internet devoted to the removal of permanently attached links, several methods are available but none of them are actually good (and that's before factoring in that it's harder to sell if you end up disliking it eventually). The best solution is probably to avoid any 5 digit Rolex reference. They weren't made for us.

It is so annoying that I may end up selling it once I get it back from service... even though it's one of my favourite watches when I look at it in isolation.
