I like value packed and unique watches and I realize that I lean towards dressier lookong GADA watches. As of Mar 2024, I've sold most of my Swiss pieces and have morw heavily leaned towards collecting Japanese watches, like seiko, orient, and citizen (across dif time periods and sub brands like OS, GS, KS, The Citizen). I hope to get into more microbrands this year too! Lol, if only budget would permit. I have a modest collection that consists of the brands I've mentioned above, Neo-Vintage Breitling and Vintage Cartier pieces from my parents, and a few smaller brands like Havaan Tuvali and San Martin.
My dad was always fascinated with watches (but never really got super into the hobby) so as a kid, I took a liking to it too. By high school, I had a few pieces (gifts and hand me downs) and by the time I had started my master's degree, I began collecting. During that time, however, I was back and forth between different Residences and ended up losing my collection one by one (I was a reckless one, still am), so I ended up swearing to not collect until I was responsible enough. Eventually, my then girlfriend, now-wife, got me an Orient Sun and Moon for our wedding and ever since then, I've been back down the rabbit hole!
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
It was either a swatch or a fossil if im not mistaken! The first one I bought, however, was a Seiko 7002, the predecessor to the skx
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Stay within your means! There are great watches at every price point and looking for one is just as fun (if not more than) owning one
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Christopher Ward, Pitzmann, Wise, Nodus, Citizen, Orient Star, Longines, Monta, Brellum, San Martin, Formex, Nodus, Bulova, Seiko, Minase, Mido
