Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
Always enjoyed watches because of my Dad. He had a Seiko Arnie when I was a kid and then got the inconic Omega Blue SMP 300M Diver in 2002. He gifted me his Arnie, then bought me a Tag Heuer Formula 1 quartz as a birthday present in June 2016. Fast forward to Nov 2021 when I finally bought the latest version of the blue Omega SMP. Followed up with a the racing green IWC Pilot's Chronograph 41 in Jan 2022, Tudor Black Bay Pro in Sep 2022, and Grand Seiko SBGW287 in Dec 22.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
My Dad's Seiko Arnie for a hand-me-down, my Tag Formula 1 for a bday present, and my Omega for my first purchase.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
All my watches have stories. The Arnie was my dad's go-to watch from when he was Captain in the Air Force in the 1980s up until he got his Omega SMP 300M in 2002. I finally got my own Omega SMP 300M a year ago when I completed al1 of my 3 biggest work accomplishments, the other two accomplishments resulting in me getting my IWC and Tudor. I just bought muvGrand Seiko SBGW287 to celebrate the birth of my first born son and me becoming a father, it was the released the same month as my son being born.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Never go broke getting a watch/don't and spend beyond your means. always look into best value for money, and do proper research and try before buy.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Omega, IWC, Tudor, Grand Seiko, Rolex, JLC are my top favorites. Also really appreciate Longines, Breitling, Vacheron, and Gerard Peregaux.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
Unrealistically, JLC master control ultra thin perpetual calendar in rose gold. It is the most gorgeous dress watch. Realistically, Rolex White Roman DJ 36 with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet.
