Tag heur formula one's from Japan.

Just been looking on eBay for a used formula one and there seems to be loads of watches available in Japan. Are these watches the real dear or are they a bit like the Indian fraken watches in eBay.

My first ever 'luxury' watch purchase the F1, way back in 1991! Funny to see them now often sold as ladies watches on Ebay! God knows how genuine they are though, they'll all be around 30 years old so wonder how many still have an original movement (or does that really matter at that age)? I've seen them more expensive than that - here for example:https://www.swwatches.uk/tag-heuer-formula-1-370-513-blue-2558h

Moved mine on when I was chatting up a woman in a bar in Benidorm a few years ago (classy, it was a stag do so forgive me) and she commented that my watch was 'a bit small' - it was a 20 year old beater by that point to be honest!!!

Most of the ones on eBay for around £200 look like they have been used as beaters. 🤣. Suppose it is a good investment if you can wear for 20 years and sell on at that kind of money. Just shows the power of a brand. There doesn't seem to be much about with that look though (in my opinion).

Nope, I'm surprised they haven't done a relaunch of these TBH. I know they still do an F1 range but it's gone a lot more upmarket cost wise and I find most of the new ones a bit dull!

I do like the new ones but the only ones with pops of colour are the more expensive redbull and gulf or the mega loud solid colour ones. Think a re release of the original would be a massive hit. No more than say £500 though.

😂😂 the really loud solid ones are the models I like! 😂😂.

But yeah, they'll need to be priced just above the Swatch Omega/Blancpain watches to get decent sales I guess. Mine cost £125 in 1991!

I would have issues trusting a used one from Japan, but at the right price it might be worth rolling the dice. I’m fully in the camp that would like to see these rereleased. I think in some fun color ways they could get real traction in the market (though they’d immediately be compared to swatch by some haters) and give Tag a nice shot in the arm.

Them red ones are pretty cool 👌I think they are been carefull not to de value the brand. At least with the omega it's basically badged as a Swatch. Wow them guys selling there's now really are milking it.

This was my thought. Best to ignore. Probably just a big standard movement in them from a Casio now. A re rub would be cool. I think tag would be worried about it hurting the brand value though. Maybe the could just sell as a tag F1 rather than tag heur?

Nothing wrong with used F1s from Japan…

That is rather nice. Most sellers seem to have good feedback but some of the watches seem to be well worn. Yours is definitely rather nice 👌
