The watch that you really wanted?!?!

Many years ago I remember reading the pages of British GQ and reading about nixon, and as they put it the 'Australian Rolex' at a price you can afford! I lusted after this watch for months but never got chance to see one in the flesh. Photos in the magazine was all I had. This was before there was proper watch reviews on YouTube and great sites like this. I eventually found the watch on Amazon and after weeks of deciding bought the watch. I did like the watch but maybe I had built it up to much, but for what it cost me it was a little disappointed. After a few months the watch stopped working and was placed in a draw until I replaced the batteries and used again for a few more weeks, for it just not to gell with me again. Today I listed the watch on eBay and ready to say good bye. My latest lust is a Tissot prx but I will be waiting to see that one in the flesh. Maybe I will be underwhelmed again, maybe I'm just a cheap watch guy and should stick to sekondas and casio's? What's everyone's thoughts and what is your regretfull watch purchase.

I lusted after the Rolex Explorer for a while then I tried it on in a dealer and to be honest it was underwhelming

If I was to buy something for Rolex money I would expect it to be something truly special. Maybe it's wanting something so much and then the reality isn't as good as the dream. Is it the thrill of the chase? Not sure I could bring myself to spend that kind of money on something like a watch. I did once nearly convinced myself to buy a tag Carrera but the money got the better of me.

Yeah to be honest the price was the main issue I ended up getting into longines and the Tudor and have no regrets with them

Nice collection. I suppose it is the choice of having several or just one. You have to be happy with what you get and what you pay. I was looking at someones Rolex date just from the 80's last weekend and have to say it was stunning. Is the step up from Tudor to Rolex worth the money though?

To be honest I think Tudor is handicapped by Rolex in a lot of ways they are not allowed to be better then Rolex but the fit and finish is on par with them and there bracelets are great the only difference is the use of precious metals on Rolex watches the markers and hand are made from white gold now and the movement are higher tested but soon will be the tudors for me the price jump is not worth it
