Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I received my grandfather’s (whom I never met) watch as my wedding gift. A Gruen Precision in two tone gold. He was a police captain and the watch was on his wrist daily according to my mother. I love watches because each one in my life signifies a moment or a person I love.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Gold Casio lol

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

My grandfather’s Gruen Precision, he was a police captain and that was a huge purchase for him back in the day (he had 5 children, so that salary was spread thin). He sadly passed before I met him. My mom told me that at the end of every day when he came home, he would set down his badge, his gun and the watch and that was him transition from Captain to Dad. I received it on my wedding day and afterwards graduated from the Fire Academy to become a firefighter, also wearing that watch.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Don’t feel like you have to get an expensive watch just to have one. Expensive does not equal cool. A watch purchase should be something that means something to you and should only matter to you! No one’s really looking at your wrist besides us watch nerds! Don’t be like me and buy an Oyster Perpetual when you can’t afford it because I thought I *needed* a Rolex

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Omega, especially vintage ones. I’ve really been interested in vintage in general lately. Also Tissot!

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Jaeger-Lecoultre Master Control. SO classy and perfection in my eyes.
