I was looking at the vario empire GMT. Maybe you want to take a look at that? It's not too expensive and has a good miyota movement (miyota 9705)
I literally just ordered the AE1200 as I am also on a trip in Portugal and wishing I had a GMT while I was here.

Had a chance to see this the other day at a watch shop and I have to say the black dial is stunning. I too, am quite surprised that it hasn't picked up that much hype for what it brings to the table.
The 5 day power reserve is really something special and does deserve more attention. The dial as well is great, slightly textured with the ability to see the movement behind it.
I would like to own this watch someday.
