Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
Was intrigued with the Seiko modding community. Started out modding Seikos for myself, which opened the whole world of collecting. Don’t mod very much anymore.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
The very first watch I ever owned was a clear Swatch when I was about 10. Wish I still had it.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
My 1986 Seiko 6309-7290 Slim Turtle was the first watch I seriously worked on. Bought the watch on Craigslist for cheap, the only thing original was the case and the movement. Spent most of COVID sources parts and “restoring” it back to all original Seiko parts.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Buy what connects with you, not what Instagram tells you is trending at the time. Also, buy within your budget.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Micro and indie brands have my attention right now: Serica, Havaan Tuvali, Branch, Pauline.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
My ultimate grail watch is a FP Journe Resonance, which has a 1% chance I’ll ever have on my wrist. A birth year Rolex Sub would be my more “attainable” grail.
