Concerning your side note, while I do agree that it is a "crime" to keep a watch you don't wear and don't enjoy, I consider gifts different. The reason being that gifts as unreplaceable - you can buy the watch again probably but you cannot buy the gift again. Of course that depends on the kind and importance of the gift :)
