When they add a saphire I will go at 100MPH to their website. 🫠

You might be waiting a while, unfortunately! It seems like they’re pretty committed to acrylic. I was skeptical at first, but I have to say I now prefer acrylic over sapphire. It’s more naturally anti-reflective, doesn’t smudge up much, and has a very pleasing feel under the fingers. Also buffing out the scratches and getting pristine clarity is such a joy!

Thinking about pulling the trigger on that watch myself! Love everything about it!!!

I just purchased the Falcon III, and it definitely has converted me to an acrylic lover as well. I’ve been eyeing the Hydra now. The grey dial and bezel does confuse me a little. I heard that the inspiration were faded ghost bezels, but that doesn’t look like that to me at all. It kind of just looks like a flat grey. Does it look like a ghost bezel to you in person? And in some photos, the grey even looks black! How do you find the thickness? The criticism overblown?

I do think it varies based on the light—it sometimes looks grey and other times looks darker (close to black). It doesn’t remind me much of faded bezels and dials, but I love the color anyway. The thickness is definitely noticeable, but the case design makes it much more interesting than just a 14mm slab-sided case. The Hydra is thick but doesn’t feel at all chunky. Also the smooth, flat case back together with the insanely comfy bracelet makes it such a joy to wear. It basically feels like a slightly heavier, more substantial version of my Falcon III.

I’ve got a 14.4mm Scurfa that feels overly thick to me, but I have a Maranez Samui (doxa 300 homage) which is 14.5mm and doesn’t feel nearly as thick. The watch actually feels pretty small despite it being 42mm also. Maybe cushion case watches should be measured at the bezel. I’m hoping the hydra wears like the Samui.

It’s also funny because a seiko turtle is about 13.2mm thick and none of the height is from the crystal. I’d be totally fine adding a top hat sapphire crystal to that.
