You are totally right concerning that it's over engineered while actually fixing nothing. Sometimes I wonder what these guys are thinking when they create things like this. Saying that though (even though it makes no business sense for them) if they just correctly oiled and regulated the thing then they would have something reliable.
The rule of thumb for me when it comes to reluming a dial and hands is the following.
If everything is in tact and not missing then leave it alone.
If even just one little area is missing the lume then full dial and hands relume as you will never match it to the rest. I use modern lume but I age it with paints and aging compounds.
I learnt my lesson with old Seiko plexi crystals thinking they were generic. They are not.
Google search the reference number to find the tech doc then you will have the part number for the correct crystal you will need to find 👍🏽
