Have your smartwatch cake and eat it too

If you’re like me, you’re a recovering Apple Watch addict whose only true use for it wasn’t apps, or fitness tracking, or anything else people claim to use it for.

Instead, the watch was almost exclusively used to get haptic notifications from high-priority apps, while the rest stayed on the iPhone. Both devices could then be left on vibrate almost all of the time, keeping things very discreet in public.

So I’ve been wondering what to do with my Apple Watch now that I’ve moved on. Pendants? Only if you wear it under your shirt and like having a squircle bulge in your chest. Belt clips? None of them allow for the underside to connect with skin, meaning the only way to use it is to disable password protection. Not exactly ideal.

But… what if you COULD keep it in contact with your skin without, say, wearing it like an ankle monitor? I think I figured out a way:

Using the standard sport loop, attach only the non-Velcro side and remove the unused lug or put it somewhere where it can be hidden comfortably. Loop it around your belt by the hip, then finally tuck it into your pants with the sensor making contact with your skin.

Voila! Now you can get important texts, calls and other priority alerts while still enjoying a real watch on your wrist. I’d recommend tweaking the general settings as well, with haptics set to max and all sounds set to 0% and muted.

And hey, feel free to use other parts of that area of your body too, no kink shaming here!
