Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I was given an Omega Seamaster as a gift, and because I deep-dive into everything that's new to me, it wasn't long until I came across TimeZone.com and all bets were off.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

Probably my Conso Space Shuttle game watch. I loved it and wish I still had it.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

In 2000, I was sitting watchless (!) at a cafe in Santa Monica. A family member took his Omega Seamaster off and told me to try it on. I did, and my eyes opened wide. He said "it's yours". I wore it for 15 years or so before passing it down to my son who's worn it daily for over five years now. That watch is seriously beat up, but every time we have it serviced, we ask them to leave every scratch intact.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Don't buy a watch if you like it, buy it only if you love it.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Grand Seiko, Hamilton, G-Shock.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

I can think of a few, but something like the Grand Seiko SBGD202 from the Micro Artist Studio. Why? Really just to go full Grand Seiko, which seems amazing.
