Looking at Watches While Traveling in Europe

So, I'm in Europe at the moment, mostly in Germany, and I took advantage of local jewelers to look at some watches "in the metal". I must say it was a sobering experience. Nomos turned out exactly what I thought it would be, and so did Tudor and Rolex.

It's hard to put a finger on it, but many watches of other watch brands seemed just unnecessarily busy. Maybe the German sense of austerity resurfaced after a few days within the country.

I was in a slight pause in collecting anyhow, but now I feel I need to recalibrate my approach for future purchases. A lot of entry-level luxury brands are off the table for now.

Are you still there? Going to purchase something? Or just browsing?

I was halfway in-between, and now I'm not 100% sure, simply because the models I was eyeing didn't really float my boat.

I should probably research Nomos while I'm still here.

I think I'd have nightmares, and I have snakes at home as it is....

Went to the beautiful city of Nuremberg today, and looked at a few other watches. Nomos looks good, and IWC is growing on me. Also Tudor watches that are not BB.

Interesting what a little offline research can do.

Enjoy your stay in Europe and may the ADs have plenty of beautiful watches to show you.

Oh, I'm having a great time, there is plenty to explore, and not only watches.

The odd thing is that within a few days in a Franconian small town I start relying on the the church bells to tell me the time, and I'm very much aware that the sundials on the buildings don't adjust for daylight savings.
