Vintage finds

One of my local watchmakers got a large collection of odds and ends recently including these two that I chose out of the pile.

A Timex Viscount day date probably from the 70s, Breguet numerals and the taper on the date window drew me in.

Then a Winthrop Executive no hands watch. Quirky and fun.

Will probably grab some interesting straps for these. Any suggestions?

Love that Timex. Breguet numerals are beautiful. They seem quite uncommon these days other than in mega-expensive "high horology" watches.

Straps-wise, both are going to be pretty versatile as they're quite neutral coloured and dressy. I find that I need to be careful not to buy straps that are too thick and padded for vintage watches as they tend to be thinner than modern ones. I reckon all these would work:

black calf or lizard

tan/cognac calf or ostrich or pigskin

burgundy, oxblood or blue calf, goat or horse

RIOS1931 do a good range of quality straps in different leathers

Your Timex was manufactured in 1978. See the last two numbers appearing in the digit string that appears between the 6 and 5 position. Lovely watch.
