I’m a 43 year old registered nurse in Charleston SC. My older brother is a watch dealer/broker in Winston Salem and he’s to blame for my introduction, followed by addiction to this hobby we all so love. I collect watches based on how they make me feel. To me it’s more important that the watch I add to my collection is unique to its brand and designed purpose, tells a story, and puts a smile on my face.
my family is in the watch business; buying, selling, and trading high end pieces.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
ongoing story is my Nomos Club Campus which is a watch that I have thought about getting rid of many times. but every time I wind it up, set it, and strap it on my wrist I smile as I look down at it. I say to myself that it’s hard to get rid of a watch like this with so much value.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
dial dial dial
value value value
by exploring pieces that have different dial characteristics, and going after watches that have good value for dollar either in quality, fit/finish, and history you cannot go wrong as your collection grows and changes either in quantity and quality.
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
no such thing. the grail watch doesn’t exist. an active collector realizes that there is no such thing as “the” watch; one watch to rule them all is not real.
