Maybe it’s obvious but for anything active - hiking, biking, running, long walks, etc. I prefer ultra light weight. Other times it’s nice to feel the heavy stainless. Yet other times it’s fun to see how light titanium or even wood can be. Variety is key and wearing the same thing day after day would be dull
I started collecting watches in the late 70s and 80s. Right when quartz took over - a very dark time in Watch history. I ended up with a drawer full of watches with dead batteries and it was then that I developed a true hatred for quartz movements. There were Fossils, Swatches, Timex, etc. I ended up giving most away and trashing the ones that were used beyond repair. I vowed to only buy mechanical after that. I started with Seikos and didn’t look back.
