LÜM-TEC Watches - Vortex D6

Submitted for your approval, a new LÜM-TEC Vortex D6 purchased through the humble auspices of https://dougfnjwatches.com/. Doug made the buying experience a pain free, ethical affair which is appreciated and has not gone unnoticed by Chronos.

The Vortex D6 https://dougfnjwatches.com/products/lum-tec-vortex-d6 has a solar powered VS42A movement from Japan (designed, assembled by hand and fully tested in Ohio) under the hood and also has the distinction of being the only sun powered and second 'diveresque' piece in my collection. One of the things which sold me was charging this thing for a minute gives the watch enough juice for about 24 hours which is amazing. And coming in at a size of 42mm/22mm lug width, the D6 doesn't look big on me at all and I do tend to favor larger watches when it comes to the field side of things.

Speaking of divers, the internal rotating bezel is meant to invoke and actual super compressor watch, which this obviously isn't. But with 200 meters of water resistance (screw down crown for peace of mind) you can get the D6 wet beyond washing dishes.

The "military grade" titanium carbide gunmetal tone PVD hard coating seems up for anything, however as a veteran of two branches of service am bugged by the use of "military grade". The term is an old marketing grift plain and simple. But in this case, the quality of the watch is sound no matter the slogan.

No date thankfully, but I do plan on replacing the NATO with a more conventional strap about the same color grey pictured here.
