Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I like art and design, I like mechanical things, as well as nature and it’s cycles. I’ve always liked circles turning circles and the brilliance of elegant solutions, so I’d say all those things combined drew me into watches.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

A cowboy-inspired pocket watch. I grew up on a ranch and my dad and other men who worked around livestock and equipment always kept time w a pocket watch. Later on I bought the first Timex Ironman and then like lots of 80’s kids a bright multi-colored Swatch.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

I bought a Casio F91W on my first trip to Prague as an inexpensive travel watch. It was the perfect little companion. When I returned home I gifted it to my 13 year old son. He received his first watch and also the stories of my amazing solo week adventuring in Czechia with the little Casio.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Enjoying whatever watch you’re wearing for the sake of the watch itself and shared experiences is priceless.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Zenith, Vacheron Constantin, Seiko, Grand Seiko, Straum, Cedric Bellon, Orient, Casio, Swatch, Marathon, Bulova, Chopard

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

Hardest question of all— Credor GBBD981. Or GS Phantom (4420-9000) in perfect condition as a birth year piece. Or a Vacheron Constantin Overseas.
