L&JR: Black/White or White Dial?

Hey folks ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿพ

Currently have a dilemma at the moment between two watch dials of the same watch, the L&JR S1503 and S1504, which come either in a black/white dial or a white dial respectively.

The black/white dial seems to be legible compared to the white dial. However, the white dial looks sleeker though a bit more difficult to read the time.

Which one would age better too? I am looking to keep this for a long time and eventually pass it down so would patina be evident more on the white dial, thus, allowing it to be more readable?

What are your thoughts?

Vote for black/white dial.

Vote for black/white dial.

Why so?

ยท

I vote white dial. It is much more legible to me.

Wouldn't the lighter dial conflict/camouflage with the white hour and minute hands?

In certain light and at certain angles perhaps, but the overall aesthetic to the whie dial is much cleaner in my opinion.

Valid point. Do you think the watch face would become darker or have patina have certain amount of time especially when exposed to sunlight?

I hope so, but patina is something that takes decades to build up

Yep, I am planning to keep this watch for years to come!

Why so?

Features and textures are more distinguishable when thereโ€™s contrast in colours.

Another valid point, but don't you think the white dial, over time, might get sun damage and patina so will have a nice contrast with the hands?

You want to wear it now, right? If not, buy the white one, leave it exposed to the sun and wait for the effect :))

If I was you, I would go for the first one (the one with the black dials). Yes, the second one looks cleaner but the black dials just makes the extra features of the watch stand out. Questions: What would you be wearing this with? Suits? Also, Patina takes many years to develop. In fact, here's a link to help you/us out:

Yes, the black/white dial does make the features stand out. Do you think the white dial is legible though?

For me it's not all that legible, especially in direct sunlight. Plus, the black dials really pops off against the teal band with the black stitching. The white dials, to me, do not go that well with the teal/black stitching. Speaking of watch bands and colorful dials, have a look at my collection and check it out. It might give you some pointers ;)

I see that you like the pandas ๐Ÿผ . The black/white dial I have is with a black leather strap though

To my eyes the white dial looks a lot less like the designer went to the Invicta School of Design.

I'd pick the black/white, it pops more.

ยท

Of the two, I vote for the white one. Because I like it better. No other reason.

But both of them look like a smiley face staring at me, so... there's that.

In wich situation you use this watch, it's so huge?
