I have an old Eagle 7 from the late 70's or early 80's and I'd love to get it back in shape but it'd probably cost me about 100 dollars to get it in shape (for a 35$ watch), so it is deep down on my watch priorites list (surprise it uses an 8000 series movement)

Thinking about her as a medical professional, I'd go for a medic watch, I happen to know only about the Vario medic watch; but it might be a little bit to big (especially on the bundstrap) since it is a 40/20 although having wire lugs might help it look smaller.

If considering a more office/formal piece a good choice might be a Seiko presage from the SRP8 range of models, several colors, all amazing although these come with an exhibition caseback.

In my eyes, Chinese manufacturers just need to have a little bit more faith in their own designs, the quality in materials finishing and so on is already there. Look at the 1963 is a cool and original design that is already iconic, and China being so vast and so old I can not see why wouldn't they look inwards for inspiration for their watches, yeah maybe it is a risk having a design not sell but you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. I really like the new Cadisen integrated bracelet sports watch, it is clearly inspired by the likes of Patek, AP, Maurice-Lacroix, and Tissot PRX, but it is also its own thing. But I was weirded out by how much they publicized it as made by a German desginer.

I don't know wether this argument applies with watches but in the fashion world the desgins are not protected, under patent or other intelectual property laws, because it is much better for the company to pump out the design as quickly as possible to protect their sales from any possible competition (be it leaked designs or designs similar enough). The only thing that is protected is the brand name and logo and copying those is unlawful. And since this is an argument about lawfulness and not moral corrrectness, the companies will do what's legal wether you consider it moral or not, because for enough people either do not care about the morality of this or are willing to turn a blind eye just to get their hands on an iconic design like the Submariner.
