Back from the doctors

I dropped this baby on a stone tile floor last spring. Fortunately, the person I bought it from was willing to repair it (always a question with vintage watches) It was worth the wait. It was a surprisingly reasonable repair cost considering the number of balance staffs he had to try before he found one that would work/fit.

Not really a surprise considering this is a LeCoultre from 1938 and if anything I'm pretty amazed he was able to finally locate the part. So, if you are looking at starting to add some vintage watches to your collection just remember that they are not as robust as modern watches they aren't as easy to have repaired, or to find parts for. However, I really love the design and the heritage of this watch, so it was worth it to me to have it repaired and to wait as long as it took to get the part.

Also they get extra points for the great job they did cleaning the face, but leaving the patina and not refinishing.

Great watch! I’m very pleased you could get it running again.
