Just acquired my very first Grand Seiko, the SBGX053. It’s been a long time coming, given the plethora of models and wide range of prices, where I took my time to understand more about the brand and its offering before scoping out and waiting for the right model at the right price to come along. Yes, it is quartz, but the 9F quartz is apparently on a whole different level of accuracy, and the movement is something to behold.

Congratulations Errik! I've never seen this model before. Love the lugs and I'm sure folks don't mention loving crown guards, but there you go!

Thank you! Indeed, for a period of time I was convinced I would have to buy a 40-41mm model given my history of acquiring models in that size. However, in more recent times I found myself leaning more toward 37-38mm and this model has a lovely blend of that classic GS dial and a more angular case, and yes, those distinctive crown guards!
