Special Watches

Every purchase I make has to have significance so I will always remember the circumstances how and why I bought them; for example, this Straton Competition Driver.

I met the original Filipino-Canadian owner online but initially I was having doubts that I can purchase it because I am not comfortable shipping to me (from Canada to Manila).

as we talked I learned he and his family will be traveling to Tokyo in the same dates me and my family are for my daughter's wedding: then we closed the deal, with us agreeing to meet at the train station and complete the purchase.

that was exciting!

him, from Canada. me, from Manila, us, meeting in Tokyo.

how cool was that!😎

This watch has since then became one of my favorites. I tried replacing with a leather band from Stratton, but it felt strange that I decided to go back to the original metal bracelet.

this is my first orange dial: I am a traditional guy, so almost all my watches have white or black dials; I do have variations of blues and green, but orange stands out.

Greets from Manila, Philippines!😊

Life is funny, there are so many times when I cannot recall where I put down my keys or cell phone but can remember vividly the purchase of every watch that I have made during the past several decades. Thx for sharing your story about collecting your watch at a train station. I am reminded of the time my nephew made a deal to pick up a new grey market ceramic Daytona from a seller that he contacted on line. Payment was for cash, my nephew agreed but insisted on meeting at a specified time at a nearby police station where he knows the desk officers. We arrived with the funds but no grey market seller.
