Very seriously considering the 40mm version of this Alpina for my nephew when he turns 18 next March. However, there seem to be about 20 other fine sub-£1K Swiss Automatic contenders to wade through. This is my enjoyable 'first world' problem I have to deal with for a while longer 😊

Originally, I was going to purchase the Hamilton Murph in 42mm but the strap was too small.

So much I bought a second one (I need help 😭).
After many visits to the IWC website I was in love with the big pilot.
I could of gone with a homage for cheaper and quite a looker. I personally wanted something with more heritage.
Finally I bumped into Alpina and it was a match. The company was founded in 1883 and also build pilots watches in the 1920s and other pilot watches.
So quality and price is great. You get the heritage what else can you ask for other a 39/38mm pilot's watch.
Enjoy your new watch brother 🍻.
